I\u2019m also gratified to see that two artworks from my ongoing, creator-owned Loteria efforts \u2014 \u2018La Calavera\u2019 and \u2018El Venado\u2019 \u2014 are recognized this year. \u2018Means the world to me. Thank you to Carrie Vaughn<\/a> for writing a terrific Wild Cards<\/em> story<\/a> that inspired the art for Nuestra<\/em>, and to George R. R. Martin<\/a> for editing Wildcards<\/em>, one of my favorite of all fiction universes. A mighty blast of Loteria karma to Leigh Bardugo<\/a> \u2014 her Grisha Trilogy (and especially Shadow and Bone<\/em><\/a>) is the waking dream that helped birth \u2018El Venado\u2019. I can\u2019t wait for her new book, Six of Crows<\/em><\/a>, releasing in late September.<\/p>\n
